Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, ONLY YOU became fractious, reared and momentarily had its right front leg caught over the front gates of its stall. ONLY YOU was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, ONLY YOU will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. After the 1400 Metres, GIDDY KIPPER, which had been ridden along to improve its position, became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside ALL OUR WAY (S Dye) which shifted in slightly. In this incident, ALL OUR WAY became unbalanced and lost ground after GIDDY KIPPER made contact with its hindquarters. S Dye was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. On straightening, GIDDY KIPPER was steadied when awkwardly placed inside EUPHORIC KID which after having initially shifted out then shifted in away from the heels of ESPOIR D'OR which was giving ground. No action was taken. At the 250 Metres, MASTER ABLE became unbalanced after being bumped by FIGHT BACK which shifted out. Throughout the race, GOLD SANDFIELD travelled wide and without cover. The performances of ALL OUR WAY and ESPOIR D'OR, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ALL OUR WAY and ESPOIR D'OR will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. O Doleuze (PROPELLOR), which was having its first start on the All Weather Track, explained it had been decided to ride the horse in about midfield because in the past it had shown itself not to close races of 1650 Metres off strongly. He said tonight PROPELLOR obtained a forward position, however, did not respond to his riding when placed under pressure. He said in his opinion the horse might not have been suited racing on this surface on the first occasion. Apprentice K W Tsui (STRIKE TO WIN) said he had been instructed to lead if possible on the horse, however, at no stage of the race did the horse travel comfortably for him despite his riding and as a consequence he was not able to carry out his instructions. He said after entering the Back Straight he shifted STRIKE TO WIN out to avoid any kickback, however, the horse did not improve and gave ground from the 700 Metres, finishing tailed out. The performance of STRIKE TO WIN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, STRIKE TO WIN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. STRIKE TO WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of STRIKE TO WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. RAIN IN SPRING, WINNING SMILE and MAGIC TEMPLE were sent for sampling.
