Racing Incident Report
KA KA SMART bounded in the air at the start and lost ground, then tailed out. The performance of KA KA SMART was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KA KA SMART will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SILVERBIRD was slow to begin. In the early stages, SINOSPIEL travelled wide and without cover. Near the 600 Metres, FANTASTIC WIN got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of FOREVER RICHES. From shortly after straightening until near the 150 Metres, EASY PUNCH had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 300 Metres, PIONERO was checked to avoid the heels of TELECOM TYCOON (Apprentice K W Tsui) which when hanging shifted in. Apprentice Tsui was severely reprimanded and told whilst the Stewards accepted he stopped riding and endeavoured to straighten his mount, he should have done so sooner. After this, TELECOM TYCOON continued to hang in for the remainder of the race and near the 100 Metres shifted ground, causing inconvenience to SINOSPIEL and DANRIVA which bumped. After the 150 Metres, PIONERO was inconvenienced when EASY PUNCH shifted out into clear running. In the Straight, CLASSIC HORSE hung in. F Coetzee (PIONERO) explained approaching the 800 Metres he was in a two wide position behind FOREVER RICHES which at that time did not appear to be travelling well. He said because of this he shifted from behind that horse into a three wide position in the hope of being able to maintain cover behind SINOSPIEL. He said as he shifted out, FOREVER RICHES was not able to maintain its position which allowed SINOSPIEL to shift to a two wide position and as a consequence PIONERO was left racing without cover. DANRIVA and KA KA SMART were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DANRIVA and KA KA SMART after the race did not show any significant findings. PACKING WINNER and SILVERBIRD were sent for sampling.
