Racing Incident Report
LUCKY DANSKE bounded in the air at the start and lost ground, then in the early and middle stages proved very difficult to settle. After the 1200 Metres, BRILLIANT ONE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of QUEST FOR LOVE. Also after the 1200 Metres, ELEGANT KING PRAWN commenced to over-race, proved difficult to settle, shifted out and caused some inconvenience to WIN FOR ALL. At the 800 Metres, ELEGANT KING PRAWN, which was continuing to over-race, was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MASTER MARAUDER and tight inside WIN FOR ALL. Also at the 800 Metres, BRILLIANT ONE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of QUEST FOR LOVE. On straightening, CELEBRATION was steadied away from the heels of WIN FOR ALL which was commencing to give ground. In the Straight, RIGHT FRAAR hung in, after the 50 Metres shifted in away from CELEBRATION, causing A Delpech, its rider, to stop riding and straighten his mount. When questioned regarding the performance of ROCKET WIN, S Dye said the horse was not suited by the manner in which the race was run. He said the early stages of the race were run at a good tempo, however, the pace steadied noticeably after the 1200 Metres. He said when the field quickened prior to straightening, ROCKET WIN was left flat-footed. He said ROCKET WIN kept on one-paced in the Straight and continued to make ground in the run to the line. F Coetzee (MASTER MARAUDER) said he had been instructed to lead on the horse. He said in accordance with those instructions he ensured MASTER MARAUDER began well and allowed the horse to run along in the early stages. He said when SKYVIEW BAR which had drawn to his outside continued to go forward in the early stages, he allowed that horse to cross and lead as in his opinion he would have been required to make too much use of MASTER MARAUDER to hold the lead. He said MASTER MARAUDER travelled kindly behind the leader, however, in the Straight failed to respond to his riding. ROCKET WIN and MASTER MARAUDER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ROCKET WIN and MASTER MARAUDER after the race did not show any significant findings. SKYVIEW BAR, CELEBRATION and RIGHT FRAAR were sent for sampling.
