Racing Incident Report

NAMJONG MONEY began awkwardly, bumped the hindquarters of X-SPEED and lost ground. Shortly after the start, SWEETIE was crowded for room between CHALLENGER which shifted in slightly when close to the heels of HONG KONG GEM and NATURAL ECHO which shifted out away from MIRACLE DRAGON. Also shortly after the start, NEW TAMAR and BIG WINNER bumped. After the 1200 Metres, CHALLENGER, which had been travelling wide and without cover, was allowed to stride forward to join the lead. At the 900 Metres, SWEETIE was left racing wide and without cover and shortly afterwards commenced to improve its position. Making the Home Turn, MIRACLE DRAGON, which had been hard ridden to maintain its position, was carried wider by HONG KONG GEM. On straightening, HONG KONG GEM was steadied and shifted out when close to the heels of RED FORTUNE. At the 50 Metres, NATURAL ECHO was steadied when improving into a narrow run between NEW TAMAR and BAUHINIA which was giving ground. F Coetzee (BAUHINIA) was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the horse. He said he did have to make some use of BAUHINIA in the early stages to obtain the lead, however, the horse then travelled comfortably at what he felt was a suitable tempo. He said however in the Straight BAUHINIA did not finish the race off as anticipated. BAUHINIA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BAUHINIA after the race did not show any significant findings. RED FORTUNE and HONG KONG GEM were sent for sampling.
