Racing Incident Report

Apprentice K L Chui (KINDACROSS) was severely reprimanded for initially weighing out with two girths which required him to be re-weighed. SUNNY POWER was slow to begin and was then hard ridden in the early stages to make up ground. WIN AGAIN began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, IRON FIST lost ground when crowded for room between BOBO WIN and MEDIC POWER. After the start, WATCH WHAT HAPPENS was taken across behind runners, then in the early stages proved difficult to settle and after the 800 Metres was steadied away from the heels of IRON FIST. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, MASTER POWER was awkwardly placed inside BOBO WIN which got its head on the side and hung in away from KINDACROSS. After the 600 Metres, the saddle on BOBO WIN shifted considerably to the left hand side. Because of this, C K Tong was disadvantaged in riding his mount. For some distance after the 50 Metres, BYRON was steadied away from the heels of MASTER POWER which was giving ground. G Mossé (DOWN THE WICKET) explained he had been instructed to have the horse in a forward position if possible. He said DOWN THE WICKET began fairly and he endeavoured to go forward, however, shortly after the start SUNNY POWER was hard ridden to improve its position on his inside and BYRON commenced to shift in from his outside. He said because of this he was not able to continue going forward and shifted to a position on the rail behind BYRON, however, got further back than anticipated as a result of that horse not maintaining a forward position. He said in the Straight he commenced to improve his position on the inside and DOWN THE WICKET responded strongly. He said passing the 200 Metres he was obliged to steady his mount and gradually shift to the outside of BULB KING which at this time was giving ground. He said if he had shifted abruptly, he would have caused interference to other runners. O Doleuze (SUNNY POWER) explained on straightening he shifted to the outside of BULB KING and he then had a sustained look over his left shoulder. He said he was endeavouring to see where MEDIC POWER was as he wanted to ensure he placed his mount under full pressure before that horse raced to his outside. O Doleuze was advised against looking excessively to his outside. D Beadman (MASTER POWER) said from a more favourable barrier today he was asked if possible to ride the horse in front of midfield. MEDIC POWER and SUNNY POWER were sent for sampling.
