Racing Incident Report

When being unloaded after arriving at the Happy Valley Racecourse, WISDOM EXPRESS slipped and sustained an abrasion to its left hind leg. WISDOM EXPRESS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. RAINBOW EXPRESS and SUPER SPECIAL began awkwardly, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when checked as a result of being crowded for room between EUPHORIC KID and MUTUAL GAIN which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly. When RAINBOW EXPRESS began awkwardly, M Nunes, the rider of the horse, lost the use of his left stirrup for a short distance. From the outside barriers, BRAVERY LUCK and PROFIT HILL were taken across behind runners. In the early and middle stages, SUPER SPECIAL proved difficult to settle. A Delpech (SUPER SPECIAL) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of PROFIT HILL, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked. A Delpech was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 17 May 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 9 May 2007. In addition, A Delpech was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. After the 900 Metres, BRAVERY LUCK and RAINBOW EXPRESS were crowded for room inside EUPHORIC KID which initially got its head on the side and shifted in away from OPTIC KING (H K Yim) and then was carried in further by that horse which shifted ground when not properly clear. In the circumstances, H K Yim was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. At the 600 Metres, MUTUAL GAIN was steadied to avoid the heels of MASTER YING (K S Yu) which shifted in when not properly clear. K S Yu was told to exercise greater care. After the 600 Metres, BRAVERY LUCK was crowded for room inside STEP FORWARD which was checked when crowded for room by EUPHORIC KID which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in momentarily. Also after the 600 Metres, WISDOM EXPRESS was left racing wide without cover. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, BRAVERY LUCK, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running when hanging in, proved difficult to shift out, then near the 50 Metres was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed between STEP FORWARD and SUPER SPECIAL. After the 200 Metres, MUTUAL GAIN, which was hanging out, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of OPTIC KING. Near the 100 Metres, Apprentice C W Wong (MAJIN BUU) dropped his whip. H K Yim pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of MASTER YING, resulting in that horse being crowded for room, becoming unbalanced, losing its rightful running and being checked. H K Yim was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 17 May 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 9 May 2007. In addition, H K Yim was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 1 further raceday. EUPHORIC KID was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, EUPHORIC KID was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying an irregular heart beat. Before being permitted to race again, EUPHORIC KID will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OPTIC KING, LEADER and MAJIN BUU were sent for sampling.
