Racing Incident Report
NOBLE SILENCE was slow to begin. After the 1000 Metres, LUCKY DRAGON was left racing without cover and pulled its way forward outside the lead. When questioned, E Saint-Martin (NATIVE KID) said near the 1000 Metres his mount, which he was endeavouring to steady whilst racing in the box seat, took fright, shifted towards the running rail and became badly unbalanced. He did say he was aware FLY ME TO THE MOON, the horse he was following, was steadying the tempo, however, in his opinion the manner in which this was done was reasonable and he attributed the occurrence to his own horse. The Stewards accepted the explanation of E Saint-Martin. When NATIVE KID became badly unbalanced, inconvenience was caused to a number of runners, the worst sufferers being FERRO BEAU which was checked and shifted out, as a result causing inconvenience to CAGA BOY, ROMANTIC GREEN, VICTORY TURBO, CARRIZO CREEK and to a lesser extent LUCKY DRAGON. Mr D J Hall, trainer of NATIVE KID, was told a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners. Over the last 200 Metres, NOBLE SILENCE was inclined to lay in. In the Straight, FERRO BEAU hung in. NATIVE KID was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NATIVE KID after the race did not show any significant findings. VICTORY TURBO and CARRIZO CREEK were sent for sampling.
