Racing Incident Report

SUPER GOAL MASTER began awkwardly, then lost further ground when checked away from the heels of PASSION which shifted out. FEEL-SO-GOOD was slow to begin. In the early stages, MY LANSON proved difficult to settle. In the middle stages and particularly making the turns, PASSION hung out. After the 400 Metres, SOUTH BREEZE was shifted wider on the track to obtain clear running, then afterwards hung out. Approaching the 200 Metres, HAPPY KID was crowded for room inside GOOD VIEW SUCCESS (C Soumillon) which got its head on the side and shifted in. C Soumillon was advised to exercise greater care. S Dye (SUPER GOAL MASTER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of MY LANSON, causing that horse to be checked and lose its rightful running. In this incident, inconvenience was also caused to PASSION. S Dye was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 25 January 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 17 January 2007. In addition, S Dye was fined $20,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. After the 200 Metres, STRAIGHT VICTORY, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of UNIQUE SPEED to continue going forward. In the Straight when under pressure, PERFECT TIME hung out. For the major part of the race, CONQUEROR travelled wide and without cover. UNIQUE SPEED, PASSION and MY LANSON were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of UNIQUE SPEED and PASSION after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, MY LANSON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a laceration to the right fore forearm. SUPER GOAL MASTER, LUMINOUS and MULTO EXPRESSO were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 15 January 2007)
PASSION, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. PASSION was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer A S Cruz this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a very stiff and restricted hindlimb action. Before being permitted to race again, PASSION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
