Racing Incident Report

MUTUAL FUN began awkwardly, bumped the inside gates of its stall, then shortly afterwards lost further ground when it and NOBLE TWINS were crowded for room between BOLD WIN which shifted in and GOAL KEEPER which shifted out. In the early stages, NICE KING was taken across behind runners. Also in the early stages, GOAL KEEPER and BULLISH WIN proved difficult to settle. Near the 1100 Metres, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of OPERATION SECRET. Also near the 1100 Metres, SINGING DINERS got its head up. At the 900 Metres, NICE KING, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied when awkwardly placed inside SINGING DINERS. BULLISH WIN made the Home Turn awkwardly. Throughout the race, LIFELINE RAPIDE travelled wide and without cover and making the Home Turn hung out. Passing the 300 Metres, OPERATION SECRET had difficulty obtaining clear running. At the 50 Metres, MUTUAL FRIENDSHIP was checked when disappointed for running between MAGIC SWEEP and LIFELINE RAPIDE which shifted out away from the heels of SINGING DINERS which shifted across its running when barely clear. In the circumstances, no action was taken. In the Straight, LOCAL POWER hung out and proved difficult to ride. When questioned regarding the poor performance of GOAL KEEPER, B Prebble said in his opinion the horse was not suited racing in blinkers. He said GOAL KEEPER crossed to race in the lead, however, after being bumped by BULLISH WIN near the 800 Metres appeared to become unbalanced in its action and then refused to settle for him. He said near the 600 Metres GOAL KEEPER again became unbalanced when crowded for room inside BULLISH WIN. He said over the concluding stages because of the manner in which it had travelled in the early and middle stages of the race GOAL KEEPER commenced to give ground and he was concerned with the horse’s action. GOAL KEEPER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOAL KEEPER after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GOAL KEEPER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. SINGING DINERS and OPERATION SECRET were sent for sampling.
