Racing Incident Report

MOSHI MOSHI began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped SUPREMACY, then lost further ground when buffeted between SUPREMACY and KEEN TAKER which on jumping shifted in. Apprentice K T Yeung (KEEN TAKER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he failed to take sufficient measures to prevent his mount from shifting in when not clear of MOSHI MOSHI, resulting in that horse being crowded for room, losing the running to which it was rightfully entitled and being checked. In the circumstances, it was considered the appropriate penalty was for Apprentice Yeung’s licence to ride in races be suspended until Sunday 2 December 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension will commence on Monday 26 November 2007 on which day Apprentice Yeung was able to resume riding in races from a prior suspension. In addition, Apprentice Yeung was fined $10,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. At the 400 Metres, MY LUCK was steadied and shifted out to obtain clear running. When MY LUCK steadied, MOSHI MOSHI, which was following, was steadied and shifted in, then for a short distance had difficulty obtaining clear running. Near the 200 Metres, KEEN TAKER got its head on the side and hung in. Over the concluding stages, MOSHI MOSHI hung out. When questioned regarding the poor performance of TREASURE PLANET, W M Lai said the early tempo of the race was quicker than he had anticipated and as a consequence he was required to make use of TREASURE PLANET to obtain a forward position as is usual. He said in the middle stages TREASURE PLANET hung out and then shortly after entering the Home Straight commenced to give ground. He said he believed the horse’s poor performance was attributable to it being made use of in a quickly run race in the early stages. C K Tong (MAINLAND MASTER) explained from a wide barrier he travelled in a forward position three wide and without cover. He said MAINLAND MASTER in the early stages hung in and did not travel comfortably. He said near the 500 Metres SUPREMACY improved to his inside and at this time MAINLAND MASTER was not travelling well enough to prevent that horse from shifting out and consequently was carried to a four wide position. He said shortly after this MAINLAND MASTER commenced to give ground and was most disappointing. TREASURE PLANET was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. MAINLAND MASTER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TREASURE PLANET and MAINLAND MASTER after the race did not show any significant findings. TREASURABLE and SUPREMACY were sent for sampling.
