Racing Incident Report

MAXIMUM CHARM was withdrawn on 27.6.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by first Standby Declared Starter SHINING DRAGON (C K Tong). MR FLOODLIGHT was also withdrawn on 27.6.09 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore tendon injury) and was replaced by second Standby Declared Starter MYSTERIOUS (M W Leung). Before being allowed to race again, MAXIMUM CHARM and MR FLOODLIGHT will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, KIMBERLEY was bumped by TELECOM EMPEROR which shifted in. Also on jumping, ACTUARIAL TALENT and TAKE IT EASY bumped. As a consequence, ACTUARIAL TALENT lost ground. In the early stages, despite being ridden along, OPTIC KING failed to muster speed. After the 900 Metres, BERNINI was steadied away from the heels of RACING SPIRIT which was carried in by KING’S CHOICE which shifted in when not properly clear. Shortly after this, NEWSWIRE TOO, which had its head on the side and commenced to shift out, was checked to avoid the heels of FAST WINNER which was carried in by RACING SPIRIT which in turn was carried in by KING’S CHOICE (Apprentice T H So). At this time, TELECOM EMPEROR, which was racing to the inside of NEWSWIRE TOO, commenced to give ground quickly. Having in mind the contribution from TELECOM EMPEROR giving ground, the Stewards severely reprimanded Apprentice So and told him to exercise greater care. At the 500 Metres, OPTIC KING was steadied when awkwardly placed between TELECOM EMPEROR which continued to give ground and BERNINI which shifted in momentarily. No action was taken. Near the 300 Metres, SINGLE MALT was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running inside SHINING DRAGON. NEWSWIRE TOO, OPTIC KING and TELECOM EMPEROR were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NEWSWIRE TOO, OPTIC KING and TELECOM EMPEROR after the race did not show any significant findings. SINGLE MALT and FAST WINNER were sent for sampling. <29/6/2009 Additional Veterinary Report> TELECOM EMPEROR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. TELECOM EMPEROR was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer D J Hall this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have stiff and restricted action in both front legs. Before being allowed to race again, TELECOM EMPEROR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
