Racing Incident Report

CAT STORM was withdrawn on 9.4.10 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind foot) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter INDUSTRIAL MARVEL (Apprentice K W Leung). Before being allowed to race again, CAT STORM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ENTRAPMENT was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, CANNONISE shifted out and bumped EASY AHEAD. Near the 700 Metres, EVER BEAUTY was checked when crowded for room between INDUSTRIAL MARVEL which shifted in slightly and ENTRAPMENT which shifted away from the fence when awkwardly placed close to the heels of AMEDEO and after being bumped by EVER BEAUTY. In the circumstances, the Stewards believed that ENTRAPMENT shifting out had had a bearing on the incident, however, Apprentice Leung was advised to ensure that he leaves sufficient racing room for horses to his inside in similar circumstances. Passing the 600 Metres, EVER BEAUTY and ELITE SIXTY-SIX were checked when crowded for room between CHEQUE BOOK and INDUSTRIAL MARVEL which shifted in slightly after having earlier shifted out to relieve tightening to EVER BEAUTY. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the entrance to the Straight, ELITE SIXTY-SIX was steadied away from the heels of CENTURY SUPER STAR which shifted out. Shortly after entering the Straight, EVER BEAUTY was steadied away from the heels of CANNONISE. Near the 150 Metres, MAGIC TEMPLE was shifted out when disappointed for running inside CHEQUE BOOK, Throughout the race, GRAND STORE and EASY AHEAD both travelled wide and without cover after being ridden along in the early stages to take up forward positions. A veterinary inspection of INDUSTRIAL MARVEL after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, INDUSTRIAL MARVEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ENTRAPMENT and AMEDEO were sent for sampling.
