Racing Incident Report

JACKPOT DELIGHT was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left front fetlock). Before being allowed to race again, JACKPOT DELIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RIDE WITH THE WIND was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, ENRICHED was taken across behind runners shortly after the start. Near the 800 Metres, ENTHUSED was left racing wide and without cover. Passing the 700 Metres, FAIR TRADE got its head on the side and shifted out towards the heels of SOARING DRAGON, resulting in XTENSION being checked when crowded for room inside SUNNY KING. XTENSION was held up for a run in the early part of the Straight. FAIR TRADE had difficulty obtaining clear running until passing the 300 Metres. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of VAUGIRARD, B Prebble stated that from barrier 1, VAUGIRARD was ridden slightly more forward than would otherwise be the case as he did not want to give away too much ground to MULTIGLORY which he considered to be a strong chance in the race. He said although ridden in a slightly more forward position, VAUGIRARD travelled well throughout the race, however, after being placed under pressure rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, VAUGIRARD was disappointing in its failure to finish off the race. He said, in his opinion, the step back in distance from 1800 Metres to 1400 Metres today resulted in the horse not showing the turn of foot that it did at its most recent start. A veterinary inspection of VAUGIRARD and ENTHUSED after the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in both horses’ trachea. Before being allowed to race again, VAUGIRARD and ENTHUSED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BLUE SKY after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that SUNNY KING had lost its left front plate. VAUGIRARD, MULTIGLORY and FAIR TRADE were sent for sampling.
<13/12/2010 Additional Veterinary Report> Trainer C S Shum reported to the Veterinary Officer this morning that ENRICHED was lame. ENRICHED was examined by the Veterinary Officer who confirmed that it was lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ENRICHED will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
