Racing Incident Report

NEW LEADER was slow to begin. From the outside barrier, SUPREME TYCOON was taken across behind runners shortly after the start, however, after the 1100 Metres was left racing wide and without cover. Shortly after the start, AMAZING VENTURE was steadied away from the heels of ROMANCING TAMAR which shifted out after being bumped by KING OF FISH II which began awkwardly. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, GOOD LOOKING WATCH was steadied away from the heels of ROMANCING TAMAR. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CLASSIC ENERGY was left racing three wide and without cover and after this was allowed to improve its position to obtain a position closer to the fence. Shortly after entering the Straight, PRIVATE ROAD was awkwardly placed close to the heels of CLASSIC ENERGY and then close to the finishing line was again awkwardly placed close to the heels of GREAT GUY. Because of this, PRIVATE ROAD was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. AMAZING VENTURE had difficulty obtaining clear running in the Straight. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of KOENIGSBERG, Z Purton stated that he was able to obtain a forward position on the horse as instructed in the early stages. He said when CLASSIC ENERGY improved its position around KOENIGSBERG after the 1200 Metres, he allowed that horse to cross to race outside the leader which provided KOENIGSBERG with cover. He said however that near the 900 Metres KOENIGSBERG commenced to get its head up and over-raced badly and for some distance was checked away from the heels of CLASSIC ENERGY. He said when this happened, KOENIGSBERG became unbalanced in its action. He added after this KOENIGSBERG travelled better, however, the manner in which it had travelled in the middle stages, in his opinion, attributed to the horse’s disappointing performance. A veterinary inspection of KOENIGSBERG after the race did not show any significant findings. NOBLE DELUXE and GREAT GUY were sent for sampling.
