Racing Incident Report

HOME WITH GLORY and HOW WONDERFUL were slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, AMITYSHIP raced tight inside HOME WITH GLORY which was racing tight inside PANTHER RUN. Then near the 1300 Metres, AMITYSHIP, which was reluctant to maintain its position, got its head up when crowded for room inside TOP DRAGON which shifted in momentarily. Rounding the Home Turn, PERFECT GEAR became unbalanced after shifting in and brushing the rail. Near the 100 Metres, VIVA GUY was steadied away from the heels of HOME WITH GLORY which in the Straight got its head on the side, hung in and proved difficult to ride. Over the concluding stages, HOME WITH GLORY raced tight outside GOLDMEN Y Y. When questioned, K C Leung said that after being bumped by NOSTALGIA shortly after the start, his mount was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages and then when racing tight inside runners passing the winning post on the first occasion was reluctant to maintain its position. He said he commenced to ride AMITYSHIP vigorously from the 1200 Metres in an endeavour to have it travel better, however at no stage of tonight’s race did AMITYSHIP stretch out. A veterinary inspection of AMITYSHIP after the race, which finished tailed out, did not show any significant findings. The performance of AMITYSHIP was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMITYSHIP will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of JUGGERNAUT after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING MASCOT, GOLDMEN Y Y and TOP DRAGON were sent for sampling.
<12/7/2012 Additional Veterinary Report>JUGGERNAUT, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. JUGGERNAUT was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer S Woods this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg and have a restricted action in both hind legs. Before being allowed to race again, JUGGERNAUT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
