Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, HAPPY FRIENDS, which had been fractious after being placed in the barriers, reared and lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, HAPPY FRIENDS will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
Near the 1000 Metres, HOLYANGELHOLY was steadied away from the heels of GENUINE LEADER and after the 900 Metres was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 900 Metres, TEAM WORK got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GENUINE LEADER.
Rounding the Home Turn, JADE CHRISTY was checked away from the heels of WIN ESPRIT.
Over the concluding stages, HOLYANGELHOLY was awkwardly placed inside the heels of MAKE IT which shifted in.
In the Straight, JADE CHRISTY got its head on the side and hung in.
When questioned, W M Lai stated that he had been instructed to shift JADE CHRISTY across behind runners in the early stages and ensure that he obtained cover. Trainer P F Yiu stated that he had been most disappointed with JADE CHRISTY’s two runs this campaign. He said from barrier 10 today, he asked Jockey Lai to shift JADE CHRISTY across behind runners and obtain cover in the hope that it would able to finish off its race. He said he had hoped that JADE CHRISTY may be able to be ridden in about a midfield position or just behind midfield, however, due to the circumstances of the race the horse was obliged to race further back than it had been intended. He said he was pleased with the manner in which JADE CHRISTY finished off the race today and it is his intention in the future to return JADE CHRISTY to Sha Tin and, depending on the circumstances of the race, ride the horse more quietly than had previously been the case.
When questioned, W C Marwing stated that rounding the Home Turn WALK ON GRASS became badly unbalanced and struck the running rail when racing tight inside WIN ESPRIT which shifted in. He said after this WALK ON GRASS did not feel comfortable in its action and did not stretch out as he thought it should. A veterinary inspection of WALK ON GRASS after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, WALK ON GRASS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GENUINE LEADER and TEAM WORK were sent for sampling.
