Racing Incident Report
Just prior to the start being effected, SOLDIER lifted its front feet off the ground and then as the gates were released lost a considerable amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, SOLDIER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial.
MEDIC KINGDOM began very awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of SIGHT LOVER. MEDIC KINGDOM then shifted out and bumped TREASURE MAN which was hampered.
From a wide barrier, GREAT PEGASUS was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
Shortly after the start, PEACEFUL MISSION was crowded for room by PERFECT HEDGE which shifted out.
Passing the 1000 Metres, AFFECTION momentarily raced in restricted room inside SIGHT LOVER.
Approaching the 900 Metres, PEACEFUL MISSION was crowded for room and made contact with the hindquarters of GOOD HONG KONG when taken out by PACKING DE LAGO which got its head on the side and shifted out.
Approaching the 800 Metres, CHOIR got its head on the side, shifted out and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PACKING DE LAGO.
Passing the 700 Metres, CHOIR again raced in restricted room inside PACKING DE LAGO.
B Prebble (AFFECTION) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 350 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of MEDIC KINGDOM, causing that horse to be checked and lose the running to which it was rightfully entitled. B Prebble was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 7 March 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension shall commence on Thursday, 28 February 2013 on which day he was due to resume race riding from a suspension incurred at the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 27 January 2013. In addition, B Prebble was fined $40,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday.
Over the concluding stages, AFFECTION got its head on the side and shifted out under pressure.
Throughout the race, SWEET CORNER travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
R Fourie (MEDIC KINGDOM) was fined $3,000 for improper use of the whip in that he raised weal marks over the horse’s left hindquarters.
After the race, Z Purton reported that, in his opinion, GOOD HONG KONG did not feel comfortable in its action in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of GOOD HONG KONG after the race did not show any significant findings.
SIGHT LOVER and AFFECTION were sent for sampling.
