Racing Incident Report

OVETT began awkwardly.
MY GOAL shifted out at the start and bumped BRAVENSS which became unbalanced. After this, MY GOAL, despite being ridden along, failed to muster speed.
Shortly after the start, G-ONE LEADER and ST YAZIN bumped, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
Also shortly after the start, SUPER FRESH was steadied away from the heels of ENSEMBLE which shifted out.
In the early and middle stages, OVETT got its head up on a number of occasions and proved very difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TOMODACHI.
After the 700 Metres, SUPER FRESH was left racing wide and without cover.
Making the turn after the 600 Metres, G-ONE LEADER commenced to over-race and hung out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of ENSEMBLE. In this incident, G-ONE LEADER shifted out and bumped BRAVENESS (Z Purton), resulting in that horse being taken wider. G-ONE LEADER continued to hang out and in doing so made contact with BRAVENESS on a number of occasions, resulting in that horse becoming badly unbalanced and being taken wider still. When G-ONE LEADER made contact with BRAVENESS passing the 500 Metres, its rider, K Teetan, became badly unbalanced in the saddle. The racing manners of G-ONE LEADER were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, G-ONE LEADER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial around a bend. When questioned, Z Purton stated that although his mount became badly unbalanced passing the 500 Metres when bumped by G-ONE LEADER, his saddle remained in its true position until he received a further bump from that horse near the 450 Metres. He said when this occurred, his saddle rolled to the left hand side and as a consequence he was not able to ride the horse out at any stage thereafter.
Shortly after entering the Straight, SUPER FRESH got its head on the side and shifted in, resulting in ENSEMBLE being taken in towards the heels of SUNSHINE KID. At the same time, ENSEMBLE was bumped on the hindquarters by TOMODACHI which at this time was shifting out away from the heels of WINFULL PATROL, resulting in both ENSEMBLE and TOMODACHI becoming unbalanced.
Passing the 150 Metres, TOMODACHI was shifted in away from the heels of SUPER FRESH.
Over the concluding stages, TOMODACHI was awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER FRESH. Because of this, TOMODACHI was not able to be fully tested all the way to the finishing line.
When questioned regarding the performance of WINFULL PATROL, K C Leung stated that it had been hoped that WINFULL PATROL, which was having its first start at Happy Valley tonight, would be able to obtain a position on the rail with cover. He said however that when no other horse improved its position, he was obliged to lead. He said approaching the first turn WINFULL PATROL commenced to race keenly and making the turn got its head on the side and was inclined to lay out. He added in the early part of the Straight WINFULL PATROL was finishing off the race fairly until momentarily crowded for room inside SUNSHINE KID. He said WINFULL PATROL was then reluctant to stretch out and appeared to him to resent racing tight inside SUNSHINE KID. He said after this WINFULL PATROL weakened out of the race noticeably. A veterinary inspection of WINFULL PATROL immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea.
When questioned regarding the performance of SEASONS STAR, M Chadwick stated that the horse was always off the bridle and never had the opportunity to travel comfortably. He said he was obliged to ride the horse along throughout the race to have it race as handy as possible. He said after quickening satisfactorily in the early part of the Straight, SEASONS STAR then finished off the race only one-paced in the run to the finishing line. A veterinary inspection of SEASONS STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BRAVENESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
WINFULL PATROL, ST YAZIN and ENSEMBLE were sent for sampling.
