Racing Incident Report

FUN RIDER was withdrawn on 23.11.13 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (substantial amount of mucus in trachea on scoping after track work). Before being allowed to race again, FUN RIDER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
As the start was effected, FREE JUDGEMENT lifted its front feet off the ground and shortly after the start was taken across behind runners.
After the 1100 Metres, NOBLE ALPHA got its head up on a number of occasions and proved difficult to settle when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PERFECT CHEERS.
Throughout the race, ALL YOU WISH travelled wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres made contact with PERFECT CHEERS which shifted out.
NOBLE ALPHA was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on PENGLAI XIANZI today, M Chadwick stated that it had been intended for the horse to be ridden in a forward position. He said it was anticipated that BUSINESS AS USUAL would lead and it was hoped that PENGLAI XIANZI would be able to obtain a position behind that horse as it previously had been successful when being ridden with cover. He said Mr A S Cruz, the trainer of PENGLAI XIANZI, felt that the horse would be able to obtain a forward position without having to be used up in the early stages but he did not want it being ridden along to do so as PENGLAI XIANZI had on occasions over-raced when having to be ridden along in the early stages. He added after being loaded, PENGLAI XIANZI became fractious and reared just prior to the start being effected. He said when the start was effected, PENGLAI XIANZI began awkwardly and then got its head up. He said as NOBLE ALPHA, which was positioned to his outside, had begun well, he felt that to make up lost ground, he would have been required to ride PENGLAI XIANZI along to prevent NOBLE ALPHA from crossing his mount and he was reluctant to do this given his instructions. He said he made the decision then to shift PENGLAI XIANZI across behind runners and obtain cover albeit in a position further back than had been intended.
A veterinary inspection of LET ME HANDLE IT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ALL YOU WISH, DESIGNS ON ROME and BUSINESS AS USUAL were sent for sampling.
