Racing Incident Report
BOTH SURE and GLACIER BLUE began only fairly.
From a wide barrier, COUR VALANT was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
A short distance after the start, RAINBOW FIGHTER was crowded for room inside HAPPY YEAH YEAH which shifted in.
C O’Donoghue (SEA WARRIOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of GENERAL IRON, causing that horse to be crowded for room and be checked and in turn taken in onto SWIFT SHADOW, resulting in that horse being hampered when also crowded. C O’Donoghue was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 19 December 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 8 December 2013.
After the 800 Metres, GLACIER BLUE got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of SIGHT LOVER.
After the 700 Metres, SIGHT LOVER was left racing wide and without cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, SIGHT LOVER became unbalanced after being bumped by HAPPY YEAH YEAH (M L Yeung) which attempted to shift out from behind POLYMER WIN. M L Yeung was severely reprimanded.
C Soumillon (BOTH SURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 150 Metres he permitted his mount to shift out when riding it along with the whip, resulting in BOTH SURE bumping heavily with HAPPY YEAH YEAH which was hampered and became badly unbalanced and in turn taken out onto SIGHT LOVER which was also crowded for room inside SUNNY FAY. C Soumillon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 19 December 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 8 December 2013. C Soumillon, the rider of 6th placegetter, BOTH SURE, was found guilty of a charge of having failed to ride his mount out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards [Rule 100(2)]. C Soumillon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 19 December 2013 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting on Sunday, 8 December 2013. The Stewards ruled that the terms of suspension be served concurrently.
Over the concluding stages, COUR VALANT raced tight between SEA WARRIOR and SWIFT SHADOW which shifted out. Because of this, COUR VALANT was not able to be properly tested.
A veterinary inspection of HAPPY YEAH YEAH, GENERAL IRON and SIGHT LOVER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
RAINBOW FIGHTER and SWIFT SHADOW were sent for sampling.
