Racing Incident Report
After being loaded, DREAM PARTNER became fractious, reared and sat down. DREAM PARTNER was removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had sustained an abrasion to the left front cannon and as such was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DREAM PARTNER. Before being allowed to race again, DREAM PARTNER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Also after being loaded, RAY OF GOLD became fractious. Before being allowed to race again, RAY OF GOLD will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
YUAN’S FORTUNE was slow to begin.
From the outside barrier, TELECOM PRINCE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
In the early stages, ALL MY BENEFIT got its head on the side and lay in and near the 1200 Metres was steadied away from the heels of RAY OF GOLD which shifted in.
Passing the 800 Metres, SAMMY’S FALCON shifted out to a position without cover after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of ALL MY BENEFIT which got its head up when racing close to the heels of RAY OF GOLD.
Passing the 600 Metres, ALL MY BENEFIT was awkwardly placed when attempting to improve between RAY OF GOLD and SAMMY’S FALCON where there was insufficient room.
Rounding the Home Turn, GLOBAL FAME raced in restricted room between SOLAR DRAGON and ALL MY BENEFIT which was taken out by GOOD TIMES ROLL.
GLOBAL FAME had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 350 Metres, GOOD TIMES ROLL became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by PUBLIC FIGURE.
Approaching the 150 Metres, VIVA GUY was taken in by SOLAR DRAGON which shifted in under pressure.
At the 100 Metres, YUAN’S FORTUNE shifted out abruptly and made heavy contact with GOOD TIMES ROLL which was also shifting in, causing both horses to become unbalanced.
Near the 30 Metres, YUAN’S FORTUNE and GOOD TIMES ROLL again raced tight.
The performance of LOVELY PANDA, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LOVELY PANDA will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ISLAND SPRING, A Suborics stated that after having to ride his mount along in the early stages to cross from barrier 10, ISLAND SPRING then travelled well in the middle stages. He said however that after the 600 Metres ISLAND SPRING came under heavy pressure to maintain its position and despite being ridden out vigorously rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight gave ground appreciably. He said the manner in which ISLAND SPRING weakened indicated to him that the horse may have been experiencing internal issues. A veterinary inspection of ISLAND SPRING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of ISLAND SPRING was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND SPRING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SOLAR DRAGON, YUAN’S FORTUNE and TELECOM PRINCE were sent for sampling.
