Racing Incident Report
MONEY WIN WINS was withdrawn on 15.3.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore capped elbow) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter WINE LOVERS (B Prebble). Before being allowed to race again, MONEY WIN WINS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
GLOBAL FAME was slow to begin and was then steadied away from the heels of WINE LOVERS which shifted in abruptly on jumping. A short distance later, WINE LOVERS was shifted out to relieve the tightening to GLOBAL FAME and in doing so bumped GOLD TARTINI which was crowded for room inside FUNNY FORTUNE.
HIGH SPEED METRO began awkwardly and lost ground.
IT CAN ONLY BE YOU shifted in at the start and bumped FUNNY FORTUNE.
From a wide barrier, YUAN’S FORTUNE was taken across behind runners shortly after the start.
For some distance after the 1000 Metres, HIGH SPEED METRO proved very difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted ground on a number of occasions. Then making the turn after the 900 Metres, HIGH SPEED METRO got its head on the side and shifted out across the heels of JOLLY GOOD which was racing tight inside DANESOUTH.
Near the 850 Metres, GLOBAL FAME was steadied after improving into tight running inside THE ONLY KID which got its head on the side and shifted in slightly.
For the majority of the race, LUCKY CHOICE travelled wide and without cover.
G Mosse, the rider of the 6th placegetter, DANESOUTH, was found guilty of a breach of Rule 100(2) in that he failed to ride his mount out all the way to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. G Mosse was fined the sum of $50,000. In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into consideration G Mosse’s poor record in respect of breaches of this Rule of Racing.
A veterinary inspection of LUCKY CHOICE and GLOBAL FAME immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
GOLD TARTINI and FUNNY FORTUNE were sent for sampling.
