Racing Incident Report

INVESTAR WIN was withdrawn on 22.3.14 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, INVESTAR WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
On jumping, FASTER MORE and LIFE OF BEAUTY were hampered when crowded for room between GRAND CHAMPION and PRECIOUS GEM which, after beginning awkwardly, shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
HEAR THE ROAR and SUPER HORSE were taken across behind runners in the early stages.
When being steadied after the 1100 Metres to allow GUN PIT to cross, FASTER MORE got its head up on a number of occasions.
Passing the 1000 Metres, K Teetan’s (PRECIOUS GEM) right foot slipped from the iron. Jockey Teetan quickly regained the use of his iron.
Rounding the Home Turn, GRAND CHAMPION and HEAR THE ROAR raced in restricted room between TELECOM PRINCE and LIFE OF BEAUTY.
THANKSGIVING was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight.
Passing the 300 Metres, LIFE OF BEAUTY was awkwardly placed outside the heels of GRAND CHAMPION.
When questioned, T Angland (FASTER MORE) stated that when the pace of the race did not quicken after the 600 Metres, he elected to shift the horse to the outside of GUN PIT and ride it along as when he rode FASTER MORE at its last start, he formed the impression that the horse is best suited by having its momentum up. He said by doing this it also required GUN PIT, which he had been following, to be ridden into the race earlier than may have suited that horse which would be further to the advantage of FASTER MORE. He said rounding the Home Turn FASTER MORE got its head on the side and lay out and in the early part of the Straight he attempted to direct the horse back towards GUN PIT to ensure that another horse would not be able to improve its position between those horses. He added however FASTER MORE refused to shift in at this time and commenced to run out under pressure. He said he endeavoured to take measures to prevent the horse from shifting ground, however, the further the race progressed into the Straight, the more FASTER MORE hung out and particularly over the final 200 Metres he was unable to prevent the horse from shifting to near the outside fence. A veterinary inspection of FASTER MORE immediately following the race revealed the horse to be lame in its left front leg. The racing manners of FASTER MORE were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, FASTER MORE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of THANKSGIVING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of LIFE OF BEAUTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings, however, the horse was unable to be scoped due to being fractious.
TELECOM PRINCE and FASTER MORE were sent for sampling.
<24/3/2014 Additional Veterinary Report>After the race, FASTER MORE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. FASTER MORE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time he found the horse to be also lame in its left hind leg. As previously advised, FASTER MORE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being allowed to race again.
