Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, POLYMER LUCK, which had been fractious, turned its head to the right before being straightened by the starting gate handler who was assisting the horse. This resulted in POLYMER LUCK beginning awkwardly, shifting in and being checked away from the heels of GOOD RUNNERS WAY which shifted out after being bumped by ENJOY LIFE. Then despite being ridden along for some distance, POLYMER LUCK settled back in the field.
LUCKY SHINY DAY shifted out at the start and bumped the hindquarters of ELECTRIC LIGHTNING.
CHAMPION SUPREME shifted out at the start and bumped SUPER LUCKY which was being steadied to obtain a position with cover.
Shortly after the start, I’M THE CONQUIST and BUNDLE OF ENERGY bumped on two occasions.
From wide barriers, CHAMPION SUPREME, I’M THE CONQUIST and BUNDLE OF ENERGY were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 1600 Metres, ENJOY LIFE was checked away from the heels of ELECTRIC LIGHTNING which shifted out marginally when being ridden along.
Passing the winning post on the first occasion, CHAMPION SUPREME shifted out away from the heels of POLYMER LUCK which was being steadied to obtain cover and in doing so bumped SUPER LUCKY, As POLYMER LUCK continued to be steadied to obtain cover behind ENJOY LIFE, POLYMER LUCK clipped the heels of ENJOY LIFE after passing the winning post on the first occasion and stumbled. CHAMPION SUPREME, which continued to follow POLYMER LUCK, was hampered in consequence.
Passing the 1300 Metres, BUNDLE OF ENERGY was awkwardly placed behind POLYMER LUCK.
Near the 550 Metres, GOOD RUNNERS WAY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of ENJOY LIFE (K C Leung) which shifted in when not quite clear. K C Leung was advised to exercise more care.
K C Ng (MULTIGOGO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that rounding the Home Turn he permitted his mount to shift out when not clear of ELECTRIC LIGHTNING, resulting in that horse being taken out across the rightful running of GOOD RUNNERS WAY which was checked when crowded onto POLYMER LUCK. K C Ng was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 20 March 2019 and to expire on Sunday, 24 March 2019 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).
Approaching the 350 Metres, LUCKY SHINY DAY momentarily raced in restricted room when improving inside ELECTRIC LIGHTNING.
Near the 150 Metres, POLYMER LUCK lay in under pressure.
Close to the finishing line, ENJOY LIFE was inconvenienced by LUCKY SHINY DAY which shifted out marginally under pressure.
Throughout the race, THE FULL BLOOM travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
When questioned, K C Leung stated that he had been racing behind ALPHA HEDGE after the 1000 Metres and after being awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse approaching the 900 Metres, ENJOY LIFE shifted out marginally away from the heels of ALPHA HEDGE which allowed POLYMER LUCK to shift out and obtain the position behind ALPHA HEDGE. He said this resulted in ENJOY LIFE being left in a three wide positon, however, he was not concerned because he had cover behind THE FULL BLOOM. He said he was aware that MULTIGOGO, GOOD RUNNERS WAY and THE FULL BLOOM were all travelling in prominent positions and he felt those horses would come under pressure near the 600 Metre turn and he did not want to get caught behind them. He said he therefore elected to allow his mount to shift to the outside of THE FULL BLOOM passing the 700 Metres and improved his position quickly to be racing outside the leader MULTIGOGO after the 600 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of ELECTRIC LIGHTNING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ALPHA HEDGE and LUCKY SHINY DAY were sent for sampling.
<14/3/2019 Additional Veterinary Report>The Veterinary Officer reported that MULTIGOGO was lame in its right front leg on the morning after racing. Before being allowed to race again, MULTIGOGO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
