8 CROWN'S GIFT (CD633) B Doyle -- Prominent but keen early when 3-wide without cover, relaxed and led by half a length out 2-wide from 1000 M to home straight, shot 2Ls clear passing the 200 M pole, kept on gamely.
11 GIFT (CB246) R Fradd -- Settled on fence 8Ls off the pace in 10th 1100 M out, still towards rear and 7Ls off pace off home turn, 4Ls down in midfield entering straight, ran on strongly but just couldn't get to winner.
1 RIVER DANCER (CC109) G Schofield -- On fence 2Ls off pace in 3rd at the 1200 M, 4Ls off speed in 5th on inner at 800 M, 1L down in 3rd entering straight and with every chance, failed to quicken up but still kept on well for a place.
9 SIROCCO (CA169) F Coetzee -- Broke well from wide gate and got half a length off pace out 2-wide at 1200 M, 3Ls down in 3rd at 800 M and 2Ls down in 5th at top of home straight, outpaced a little thereafter but still stayed on well.
7 HELENE MOMENTUM (CB453) M Kinane P1/TT- 2-wide and 6Ls off pace in 8th at 1200 M and at the 800 M, 2-wide and 3Ls down in 7th turning for home, looked dangerous when 2Ls down in 3rd at 200 M but found no extra.
10 WINTROW (CC175) S Dye -- Slowest away and sat 2-wide 8Ls off the pace in 11th 1100 M out, 3-wide and 6Ls off the speed turning for home, made a little late headway to be nearest at the finish.
6 CHEEKY (CA266) D Whyte -- 2-wide and 5Ls off the speed in 6th for most of back straight, 3Ls off the lead in 6th on straightening, never got any closer to the leaders after that.
4 THUNDER BIRD (CD637) M Cahill BO On fence 5Ls off the pace in 7th at the 1200 M, niggled along to take closer order at 600 M when about 4Ls off speed in midfield, never troubled principals in the stretch.
2 ANALYST (CD631) C Soumillon -- Keen when hanging in early on, 2-wide and 2Ls off pace in 5th at the 1200 M, 4Ls down in 4th and 2-wide at 800 M, about 1L down in 3rd at top of home straight, well outpaced from then on.
14 GIBSON (CD634) J Didham -- Awkwardly away, in rear 12Ls off pace 1200 M out, one from rear and 8Ls behind leader turning for home, made a small bit of late ground but never properly involved.
5 BLUE STITCH (CB031) A Delpech B/TT 10Ls off the speed and 2-wide in 12th 1100 M out, 8Ls down in 12th entering home straight, finished off down centre of the track without threatening much. (Significant amount of mucus in trachea.)
13 BLACK AVALANCHE (CD632) W H Lao B/TT One from rear when 11Ls off pace at the 1200 M, last and detached entering straight, no impression.
12 ROYAL TREASURE (CC630) A Helfenbein B 6Ls off pace on inside in 9th at the 1200 M, hung in at 800 M when similarly placed, bumped rail at 700 M, same distance off lead when under pressure into straight, one-paced.
