2 7 LIFELINE RAPIDE (CD204) D Dunn -- Began well from wide draw and niggled along to race in a prominent position 2 wide. Crept forward to join the leader at home turn. Responded well when asked 400 M out but failed to match speed with winner inside final 100 M.
3 2 UNIVERSAL PIONEER (CB293) F Coetzee TT Broke well and niggled along to race in a prominent position on rail through to straight. Made steady progress when asked 350 M out but was never in position to trouble the 1st pair.
4 12 QUICK NEWS (CB178) S Dye B Jumped fairly and steadily settled in a rearward position 2 wide. Had trouble finding clear running in early part of straight and shifted to the outside. Ran home strongly when clear near the 200 M to miss 3rd narrowly.
5 13 MAGNIFICENT (CB390) G Schofield B Jumped with field and ridden along to race in better than midfield on rail. Shifted out on straightening to find clear running but never saw clear daylight in straight whilst running on fairly.
6 8 MASTER ABLE (CD349) O Doleuze -- Jumped awkwardly and hard ridden to recover lost ground. Near the 1000 M was awkwardly placed on heels and shifted out to be 2 wide in midfield. Switched out on straightening and made up little ground inside final 250 M.
7 10 TOP HEALTH (CD015) W M Lai SR Broke fairly and steadily settled in rearward position 3 wide with cover. Switched out on straightening and made some progress inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
8 4 LUCKY GUYS (CE016) A Delpech SR Broke fairly from widest and niggled along to race in better than midfield out wide with no cover to straight. Ran on fairly when asked 350 M out but unable to sustain effort after the 200 M and became one-pace.
9 14 JOY AND TREASURE (CD251) H W Lai B- Tardy start and raced in a rearward position on rail through to straight. Under pressure 350 M out and made up little ground inside final 200 M to be closest at finish.
10 11 HARVEST (CD125) H K Yim SR Began awkwardly, towards rear early. After the 1100 M went forward to be in midfield on rail to straight. Only kept on same pace when asked 350 M out. (Laceration to left hind and lost left front plate.)
11 6 GLORY YEARS (CE023) T Mundry -- Began well from wide draw and steadily settled in midfield 3 wide with cover through to straight. Unable to quicken when asked 300 M out and kept on evenly to the line.
12 5 FLASH HARRY (CB180) Y T Cheng SR/CO Jumped with field and raced in better than midfield 3 wide whilst proving difficult to settle in the early stages. Switched to the outside on straightening but failed to quicken in straight and kept on evenly to the line.
13 1 LUCKY TRIO (CB199) B Prebble TT Jumped well from wide draw and niggled along to take lead on rail from around the 1000 M. Headed shortly after the 400 M and steadily faded thereafter.
14 9 RAINBOW DIAMOND (CD183) R Fradd -- Soon raced at back around 2 wide, switched to the widest on straightening but failed to show any running in straight.
