6 LUCKY DANSKE (CD364) F Coetzee TT Led by a neck out 2-wide at 1000 M and maintained narrow advantage until home straight, kept finding on the run-in and extended the lead close home.
13 CANNONISE (CD377) G Mosse B Within 1L of speed out 3 and 4-wide in 3rd from 900 M to home straight, kept on gamely but winner was too strong, big effort nonetheless.
7 CHOSEN ONE (CD347) D Holland -- 4Ls behind in 7th when 2-wide at 900 M, a little closer off final bend, ran on well for a place late.
3 GLOBE RIVER (CD228) B Prebble B 3Ls behind on fence in 6th at 900 M, 4Ls down in midfield off home turn, didn't have much room through final stages but still ran on well without threatening principals.
8 CLASSIC HORSE (CD378) E Saint-Martin TT- Led by a neck on fence early on, headed by a neck at 1000 M and same margin behind in 2nd on straightening, all out when 1L down in 3rd at 200 M, weakened inside final 100 M.
12 HK ISLAND VICTORY (CC290) C Soumillon B- 2-wide and 2Ls off pace in 5th at 1000 M, still well there off final bend and at 200 M, one-paced close home.
1 GREAT IDEA (CC178) R Fradd B 6Ls behind when 3-wide with cover in 10th at 900 M, marginally closer when 4-wide off final bend, ran on okay out wide without ever looking like taking a hand in the finish.
14 VITAL PATROL (CC335) M Rodd -- Squeezed out at start, 6Ls behind on fence in 11th at 1000 M, keen at 800 M, hung out until home turn, no clear run until the 300 M, switched inside at 200 M but still no clear passage, not fully tested.
11 MAJIN BUU (CC334) C K Tong V 2Ls off pace when 3-wide with cover in 4th at 900 M, bumped when still there on straightening, a little short of room at 300 M and at 200 M but always looked held from then on.
10 WAFER KING (CD276) D Whyte B- Caught 4-deep no cover early but got in 3-wide with cover at 800 M when 4Ls behind in 8th, under pressure when 3-wide off final bend, one-paced thereafter.
5 FOUR ACES (CC141) S Dye -- Keen in places, 8Ls off pace in 12th when 2-wide at 900 M, not much closer on the swing when under pressure, no impression.
9 PERSEVERANCE (CD243) H W Lai -- 5Ls behind in 9th when 2-wide at 1000 M, no better off home turn when hard ridden, faded out further.
4 BINGSON (CD112) P H Lo B1 Badly checked at start, detached and laboured about 12Ls last until home straight, never a factor. (Lame.)
2 FIGHT BACK (CE058) G Schofield -- 8Ls behind when 3-wide with cover in 13th at 900 M, struggling when 5-wide (widest of all) off final bend, soon well behind.
