6 MAVERICK STAR (CE279) Y T Cheng -- Average to begin, urged along to settle just worse than midfield on rails, 6 to 7Ls away in mid section, used nothing to turn, followed rails and closed hard without rounding a horse to score solid win.
3 FIRST AMONG EQUALS (CC327) A Delpech B Broke well, restrained to near rear from awkward alley, raced 2 wide 10Ls away, made 3 wide run from 700 M, tracked into race nicely to be 5Ls down on turning, came with solid run in straight to overhaul all but winner.
2 SIR ERNESTO (CG051) W C Marwing SR Fast into stride, allowed to roll forward from outside alley, did plenty of work to take up running, kept them chasing 4Ls clear in mid section, still had good break to 300 M, tired last furlong but did well to hold 3rd.
5 CALIFORNIA BISHOP (CD351) K L Chui TT Away well, pressed forward to hold prominent spot 3 back on fence 4Ls from leader, had run of race in mid section, gained clear passage on turning, challenged strongly at 200 M but just couldn't match them last bit.
8 FANTUZZI (CG187) C Munce -- Slowly into stride, settled at rear of field 10 to 12Ls away, lobbed along at tail throughout, still well back on turn, tracked nicely early in straight, weaved between runners and finished well to be closest at finish.
7 SHABU SHABU (CB290) E Saint-Martin -- Broke with them, lacked early speed and faded back, raced in rearward division as usual 10Ls away on rails, spent little in run appreciating fast pace, stuck to fence in straight and closed race off nicely.
4 PACKING ANGEL (CB223) H W Lai P-/B1 Away well, pushed on to take up midfield spot 6Ls from pace, forced to race 3 wide from midpoint without cover, came with 4 wide run from 500 M. Still there until 250 M but weakened late after doing extra work. (Lost plate.)
9 WINNING BULLET (CE260) D Whyte -- Jumped with line, niggled to take closer order, slotted in to box seat 2 wide with cover 5Ls away, angled 3 wide from 600 M, outpaced at top of straight, lacked usual finish and kept on at one clip to line. Crowded late.
10 GRAND NOBLE (CG148) R Fradd -- Away with rest, settled down in midfield, raced 2-wide 6Ls away, had easy run in middle stages, trailed 3 wide on turning, kept improving between horses in straight, raced a little one paced and could only hold ground last 200 M.
11 SEASONS KNACK (CC242) S K Sit -- Slowly into stride, assumed usual role near enough to rear, raced 3 wide 12Ls away in mid section, kept on with 4 wide run from 500 M, stuck on at same pace widest in straight, failed to threaten winner.
12 BRILLIANT ONE (CG212) W M Lai TT Fair to begin, held position on rails in midfield, raced 6Ls from pace throughout, not asked to turn, began to struggle early in straight, failed to show any turn of foot and only kept on at same pace to line.
1 HONEY MONEY (CC359) F Coetzee B/TT Awkward to begin and lost ground, settled down in unfamiliar role near rear, raced 2 wide 9Ls away, eased 3 wide from 600 M, unable to quicken when making run between horses on turning, only plodded to line.
14 INDUSTRIAL MARVEL (CG188) C W Wong -- Fast to break from wide alley, crossed to lead easily in first 200 M, handed up to race behind leader when challenged, hard ridden on turn after good speed in mid section, gradually faded out in straight.
13 THE BEST (CG190) M W Leung -- Average to begin, pressed forward when trapped wide early to race 2 wide without cover 3Ls off lead, always struggling with good speed, under pressure on turn, compounded badly in straight.
