9 SUPERIOR UNIT (CJ045) B Prebble -- Hit ground first and lead them with ease, took a sit behind leader, always travelled comfortably, plenty to offer on bend, took inside runs and took over at 200 M, eased down to score comfortably. (See Racing Incidents re tactics.)
3 DIM SUM (CH226) D Beadman CP1 Restrained from a wide gate, dropped to rear 6Ls off pace, conditions not ideal and set a task leaving bend, still last turning, took inside runs and made plenty of late ground but unable to challenge winner.
10 BEAUTIFUL DREAMER (CH108) M Du Plessis -- Away only fairly, drifted back to race 5Ls back in 2-wide line, pace not ideal early but helped when it picked up in mid-section, made a wide run leaving on circle, came widest in straight and closed off best of rest for a placing.
2 GRAND STORE (CH087) Y T Cheng -- Showed good pace, pressed on to take up lead, set an even tempo in front, challenged on circle, kicked 1L clear turning, soon overtaken at 200 M, kept on reasonably thereafter to hold spot in frame.
1 HIGH POINT (CH215) S K Sit -- Began well, slotted into coveted 1 out 1 back role, had a fair run on back of pace, still 2Ls down turning, made some progress to 200 M but unable to go on with it late and just battled last furlong.
11 CANNONISE (CD377) W M Lai B/TT Out well, didn't possess usual pace and ended up in midfield 3-4Ls back, tracked reasonably in middle stages, same margin down turning, didn't produce a finish and just battled in run to line. (See Racing Incidents.)
12 GRAND COMMANDS (CD300) C W Wong SR/TT Began in line, pressed forward from a wide gate using plenty to eventually race 3rd outside leader at mid-point, didn't rest on circle, struggling on turning and only plugged on at same pace after hard run.
8 WARRIOR (CH066) D Whyte -- Began in line, lacked usual pace, settled 3Ls back on fence, never comfortable on inside horses rails, same margin down on turning, didn't finish of as usual and weakened out late. (Jockey reported didn't handle course first time.)
5 ISLAND SPEED (CG202) H W Lai B/TT Away only fairly, pressed on 3-wide without cover 2Ls back, did plenty of work in run, had a trail from mid-point, urged along turning, gradually dropped out when hard run took toll.
4 ADAIKALI (CE181) G Mosse CP Slowed customary pace to race outside leader, held spot despite pressure from outside horses, 1L down on turning, unable to offer a finish in straight and weakened tamely late.
6 CHATER POWER (CG312) O Doleuze B/TT Out in line, checked shortly after and ended up 5Ls back on fence, had a quiet run thereafter, still well back on bend, run closed at 200 M and lost all chance thereafter.
