Expert Column for Singapore Airlines International Cup Day (Sherie Legrix)

S1-1 Singapore Airlines A380 Paris Stakes

MUSKETEER seems and acts like a game horse that can prevail from 1200 to 1800 metres, and got every second pair of binoculars training on him last time out while closing like a freight train from nowhere on the far outside to deliver an explosive victory at 1400 metres.

LORD BROMPTON, another new winner, was improving one race at a time, and has every legitimate chance to score here once again.

RAZIYYA OF SYDNEY has been performing quite remarkably in the 1400- to 1600-metre ranch, while as seen from her works in the trackworks, stamina should not be a problem in stretching out to 1800 metres for the first time.

With 3 wins and 2 seconds record from 6 starts, FIRST SCOOP improves gradually from sprinting at 1200 metres to routing at 1700 metres, and is simply filling out physically. This individual has hit all the right notes in his preparation, and will give GREENSTONE a race to the wire.

Meanwhile, Patrick Shaw has long been acclaimed for training speedballs up front, whereas GREENSTONE is just a fit for Joao Moreira all along, and let’s see if this pair can make every step a winning one again.

SELECTIONS: 12. MUSKETEER, 8. LORD BROMPTON, 10. RAZIYYA OF SYDNEY, 6. FIRST SCOOP & 3. GREENSTONE

S1-2 Singapore Airlines A380 Sydney Stakes

With the dynamics of which this race would probably play out, several speed horses here needs to get the lead for a good performance. As such, the top-fit MASTHEAD, with a well-positioned trip, should see this race well set up for him.

Breaking from barrier 12, TRUDEAU would have to lose some ground; that being said, this individual did stretch out nicely to 1400 and 1600 metres right off some good performances at 1200 metres, and has been spotless in the mornings.

TOUCH OF GOLD turns back to his winning distance; with a good trip, he should also be in the mix.

LET’S SEE ACTION, meanwhile, can steal this race from the stealth with a 14-pound advantage.

METEOR MIKE is so lightly raced with only a pair of appearances in this campaign. However, he has been on the right track since resuming his morning regiment, and should be fresh on race day.

SELECTIONS: 6. MASTHEAD, 12. TRUDEAU, 7. TOUCH OF GOLD, 13. LET’S SEE ACTION & 5. METEOR MIKE

S1-3 Singapore Airlines A380 Tokyo Stakes

NANDOWRA, a nice Group 3 winner with blinkers on over 1600 metres back in March, still hit the board last time out with blinkers off against Group 2 company over 2000 metres. This game individual has been a handful in the mornings, and certainly is a big one on the radar.

THE COMEDIAN, though being a better performer at 1400 metres rather than 1600 metres, gets champion jockey Joao Moreira in the saddle this time, and is a very appealing choice.

BORN TO FLY has been so consistent through his last two runs, and finished a nice third against Group 3 opposition last time out over 1600 metres. An even lighter impost this Sunday will only help him get the job done.

SHUTTLE MAN, a 1400-metre specialist, stretches out as effectively well with a win and a third at 1600 metres. Coming off yet another 1400-metre score, this is a physically improving prospect on his “A” game right now.

Having lost some of his consistency through recent starts, KEEP AWAY did score wire-to-wire over the same distance. With a more favourable rating as of current, he should be a live long shot.

SELECTIONS: 3. NANDOWRA, 2. THE COMEDIAN, 7. BORN TO FLY, 10. SHUTTLE MAN & 5. KEEP AWAY

S1-4 KrisFlyer Internationl Sprint

In this feature contest, the bulk of my selections will side with the better-drawn individuals.

First and foremost, I will put the magnificent Hong Kong representative LUCKY NINE right on top. This 1200-metre specialist has been so frisky and full of himself in his trackworks after his arrival in Singapore; with his usual stalking style from off the main speed, this trophy on Sunday night, all things being equal, is only his to lose.

MR BIG has been feverishly training up for this big one; taking blinkers off this time, it remains interesting to see if he can lick the field home all the way in front with a gutsy effort.

Japanese invader DASHER GO GO, likewise to MR BIG in some context, also has terrifying speed up front. Mostly going through maintenance works in his trackworks, his connections are clearly saving up for a big tilt on Sunday night.

SPEEDY CAT, forging defense for the home team, has shown an awesome, explosive closing kick through his previous starts over the same distance of 1200 metres, whereas his connections are more than satisfied with the way this individual is moving forward right now.

Though slightly hurt with an outside gate, GOAL KEEPER, with some high cruising speed, should also be considered.

SELECTIONS:2. LUCKY NINE, 7. MR BIG, 8. DASHER GO GO, 11. SPEEDY CAT & 9. GOAL KEEPER

S1-5 Singapore Airlines International Cup

With presumably the race dynamics of this feature contest being an off-the-pace type to favor mid-pack stalkers and deep closers, horses breaking from the middle parts of the gate should have more flexibility in finding a good striking position.

Hong Kong stalwart MILITARY ATTACK, a game, versatile individual rolling on high with his 3-race winning streak in group company, is swiftly back to his powerful self, taking all in at Kranji.

Seasoned German globetrotter PASTORIUS has yet to show even the slightest drop in energy levels, and is simply one happy camper in career form so raring to go for another spin at 2000 metres – an ace trip right in his ball park.

Meanwhile, the rangy READY TO STRIKE has been flashing his big, reaching strides in his trackworks as usual, whereas his connections have long been mapping this big dance every step of the way.

BETTER LIFE is backed with perfect connections, while Alan Munro has taken no prisoners in his trackworks by riding him out in each of his major preparatory works.

DAN EXCEL, the newly-crowned Champions Mile winner from Hong Kong, heads another front of the “road attack” alongside stablemate MILITARY ATTACK. He has been such a visually-inviting sight of thrive and energy in his trackworks after shipping to Singapore, and it would be no surprise if this pair finishes one-two to bag home another SAIC quinella.

SELECTIONS:2. MILITARY ATTACK, 3. PASTORIUS, 12. READY TO STRIKE, 13. BETTER LIFE & 5. DAN EXCEL

DOUBLE TRIO SELECTIONS (9 unit bets):
S1-4:
Banker - 2. LUCKY NINE
Selections - 7. MR BIG, 8. DASHER GO GO & 11. SPEEDY CAT

S1-5:
Banker - 2. MILITARY ATTACK
Selections - 3. PASTORIUS, 12. READY TO STRIKE & 13. BETTER LIFE

S1-6 Singapore Airlines A380 Zurich Stakes

Genuine sprinter SELECT GATHERING has a very enterprising and versatile running style, who can stalk the pace before unleashing his good acceleration, one remarkable feature that would only be a plus, as a slower track towards the back end of a night card has for more than often favoured closers.

DIVINE HERO, an improving upstart, has his mind fixed on the job after getting tongue ties, and should still move forward.

SICHUAN RULER, who normally needs more rest in between races, came out from his last start on 5 May in surprisingly good shape, showing no particular wear and tear for the worst of it in the mornings, and can be considered.

Meanwhile, though not racing in his best distance, WILKINSON showed some good form last time out, who is still a solid contender that gains on class against this field.

MAI GURU will have to overcome his wide gate.

SELECTIONS:11. SELECT GATHERING, 12. DIVINE HERO, 4. SICHUAN RULER, 7. WILKINSON & 8. MAI GURU

TREBLE SELECTIONS (27 unit bets):
S1-4: Multiple - 2. LUCKY NINE, 7. MR BIG & 8. DASHER GO GO
S1-5: Multiple - 2. MILITARY ATTACK, 3. PASTORIUS & 12. READY TO STRIKE
S1-6: Multiple - 11. SELECT GATHERING, 12. DIVINE HERO & 4. SICHUAN RULER
