Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed as ALLEZ ALLEZ had to be re-saddled after arriving at the barriers. Whilst parading, HIGHWAY STAR kicked out and made contact with the rail. The horse was examined behind the gates and passed suitable to race. MR BRINKER missed the start. SPARTAN jumped awkwardly and shifted in. In the early stages, ALLEZ ALLEZ raced ungenerously and shifted ground and about the 800 Metres this caused some inconvenience to SPARTAN. E Legrix (CENTURY STAR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that at about the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to race close to the heels of HIGHWAY STAR, then allowed it to shift in when not clear of SPARTAN. As a consequence of this, SPARTAN lost the running to which it was rightfully entitled and was checked severely. After taking into account all the circumstances of this case, the Stewards were of the view that the appropriate penalty was that E Legrix be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Sunday, 24 September 2000 on which day he may resume race riding. The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin meeting on Wednesday, 13 September 2000. Approaching, rounding the Home Turn and in the Straight, GO DENIM hung out badly. AIR FORCE ONE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. Following the race, E Saint-Martin (HIGHWAY STAR) said the horse in his opinion was not stretching out behind as it should. Before being permitted to race again, HIGHWAY STAR will be subject to an official veterinary examination.
