1 8 LUCKY MCQUEEN (K064) Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Sent for sampling post-race.
2 6 SMART FIGHTER (H278) Sent for sampling post-race.
3 2 THE HEIR (H459) J Orman stated that from the inside barrier when his mount commenced well he was able to hold an on-pace position without having to apply pressure to his mount to do so. Sent for sampling post-race.
4 1 JOKER ORBIT (L115) After travelling a short distance became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by VIVA FIRECRACKER which shifted out. In the early stages of the Home Straight lay in when being shifted to the outside of LUCKY MCQUEEN.
5 9 VIVA FIRECRACKER (L065) Had its left hind plate adjusted in the holding stalls, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race. Jumped only fairly. Shifted out after travelling a short distance, was bumped and became unbalanced. In the Home Straight raced greenly when placed under pressure. A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer”.

8 11 LEAN MASTER (H134) H Bentley reported that his mount anticipated the start and as a result commenced only fairly. He said approaching the first turn near the 1000 Metres LEAN MASTER commenced to race keenly and as a result got its head up when positioned close to the heels of FASHION LEGEND. He added LEAN MASTER then continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages of the event and refused to settle.
9 12 NOBLE FANS (K038) Jumped only fairly. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
10 7 SUPREME FEELING (L130) Jumped awkwardly and then blundered shortly after the start.
11 10 BLAZING BEAM (K103) In the middle stages raced keenly when being shifted behind LEAN MASTER to obtain cover.
UR 5 SKY PHOENIX (K404) Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration as to whether SKY PHOENIX had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from Senior Starter Mr A Speechley it was established that as the start was effected SKY PHOENIX reared simultaneously, resulting in its rider K Teetan being dislodged and SKY PHOENIX completing the course riderless. As the incident occurred simultaneously to the start being effected the horse was declared a runner. Before being allowed to race again, SKY PHOENIX will be required to perform satisfactorily in consecutive barrier trials. K Teetan was subsequently examined by the Chief Medical Officer and passed fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.
