Racing Incident Report

SUNNY SMILES, which was fractious in the barriers, was slow to begin. Passing the 1100 Metres, SUNNY SMILES became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside ALICE TOO which itself was taken in by LOTS OF FUN. In the early part of the Straight, FANTASTISCH was held up for clear running. Passing the 300 Metres, SUNNY SMILES was steadied when crowded for room between ICE FIRE and FANTASTISCH (M Guyon) which shifted out to obtain clear running. M Guyon was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground. Throughout the race, LOTS OF FUN travelled wide and without cover. After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on LOTS OF FUN at the request of Trainer D J Hall. He said this examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, LOTS OF FUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of LIGHTNING MOUNT after the race did not show any significant findings. ICE FIRE and BAYVIEW GREYSLEW were sent for sampling.
