Racing Incident Report

ABSOLUTE HEDGE was withdrawn on raceday morning by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right fore capped elbow). Before being allowed to race again, ABSOLUTE HEDGE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Shortly after the start, KYARA was crowded for room between ADORATION which shifted out and BOULD MOVER which shifted in after being bumped by FLYING SUPREME. Also shortly after the start, MAJESTIC FALCON, which was being steadied to be shifted across behind runners, was crowded for room between IMPERIAL ROME and GIFT IS GIFT which shifted in. For some distance approaching and passing the 1000 Metres, KYARA got its head up when proving difficult to settle. Near the 900 Metres, BOULD MOVER was steadied away from the heels of VOILE ROUGE (T Angland) which shifted in when not properly clear. T Angland was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear when shifting ground in future. Near the 700 Metres, GIFT IS GIFT was forced out into a position without cover by NEW VISION which shifted out to follow IMPERIAL ROME. Rounding the Home Turn and again shortly after the 400 Metres, KYARA was momentarily crowded for room inside NEW DEERFIELD which shifted in. OPEN SESAME had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight. Over the final 300 Metres, MAJESTIC FALCON got its head on the side and hung in under pressure. Prior to the 200 Metres, ADORATION had difficulty obtaining clear running and after the 200 Metres was shifted out to obtain clear running. NEW DEERFIELD, which was racing to the outside of ADORATION, was inconvenienced when that horse shifted out. Over the final 200 Metres, KYARA had difficulty obtaining clear running and over the concluding stages raced tight inside BERIO. Throughout the race, IMPERIAL ROME travelled wide and without cover. NEW VISION and OPEN SESAME were sent for sampling.
<9/1/2012 Additional Veterinary Report> After the race, an endoscopic examination was conducted on NEW VISION at the request of Trainer P O’Sullivan. The Veterinary Surgeon reported this examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse’s trachea.
