He said whilst his mount jumped well he had observed a number of runners to his inside were showing intent to go forward and race in the lead. He said when these runners showed superior pace in the early stages he elected to remain racing to their outside other than contesting the lead. He added after travelling some distance he contemplated allowing his mount to go forward to cross runners to his inside but he was concerned that the rider of a runner would contest the lead and for that reason he elected to remain racing wide and without cover for the majority of the event where his mount was travelling comfortably. After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider were reasonable in the circumstances - Race 583.

When questioned rider stated that after travelling a short distance he elected to shift in with the intention of holding a position one-off as he had expected a runner to shift to the rail. He said when that runner held its position one-off and another runner then shifted in slightly he was obliged to check his mount near the 1100M when crowded - Race 583.
2 K491  BEAUTY BOLT  22/03/2026   541  BEAUTY BOLT(K491) near the 1800M improved to the inside of a runner and a short distance later was steadied. Rider stated that the instructions were to go forward. He said when his mount jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start was crowded it settled further back than intended. He added in the Home Straight his mount failed to run on when under pressure. After the race was examined by the vet who found that horse to have sustained a small cut to its left front leg - Race 541.
