9 K247  KA YING GLORY  28/01/2026   389  KA YING GLORY (K247) when questioned rider stated that the instructions were to lead the event. He said after crossing to the front approaching the first turn he allowed his mount to continue to stride along as he was concerned if he applied too much pressure to the horse it would hang out as it did at its last start. He said after passing the 1100M he applied some pressure to the horse, however, it commenced to lay out and therefore he was reluctant to restrain the horse and allowed it to continue to stride along. He said although he was aware the pace he was setting was inside of standard time he felt it was in the best interests of the horse’s chances in the race not to restrain it to avoid it hanging out. Trainer confirmed the instructions were to lead and as the horse hung out at its previous race start to not overly restrain the horse to allow it to settle comfortably. He said whilst he issued these instructions he was of the opinion that rider could have made a greater effort to set a more sustainable pace during the middle stages of the event. After considering the evidence the Stewards found the tactics adopted by rider were reasonable in the circumstances - Race 389.
