2 K129  WINNING WING  14/01/2026   351  WINNING WING (K129) when questioned rider stated that whilst he expected the horse to settle back in the field he was instructed to endeavour to maintain a position closer than at its previous race starts and if the pace of the event was slow he was given the option of making a mid-race move on the horse. He said in the early stages he was able to obtain a position behind a runner. He said near the 1200M his mount improved to the outside of that runner where it followed another runner. He added as he was of the opinion the pace of the event was slow because his mount was positioned closer than at its previous race starts he felt there was an opportunity to comply with the other aspect of his instructions to make a mid-race move near the 1100M. He further stated that as a consequence he commenced a forward move, however, his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover thereafter when it was unable to continue to cross the leaders. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued, however, expressed dissatisfaction with rider’s decision to go forward near the 1100M. After considering the evidence including the sectional times of the event and the manner in which his mount was racing at the 1100M the Stewards advised rider that he had made an error of judgement in going forward at the 1100M, however, the Stewards in the circumstances elected not to issue a charge under the Rules and advised rider that the ride lacked the necessary judgement expected of a jockey riding in this jurisdiction - Race 351.

8 K131  PRESTIGE GOOD  11/01/2026   342  PRESTIGE GOOD (K131) when questioned rider stated that his instructions were to endeavour to hold a forward position but indicated to connections that due to the expected strong pace of the event it may be difficult to comply with those instructions. He said he was also given the option of making a move during the middle stages of the race to allow the horse to hold an on-pace position, particularly as his mount races in a one-paced manner. He said after settling behind midfield in the early stages he then after the 1400M encouraged his mount to improve into the event which resulted in the horse obtaining a position outside the lead near the 900M. When questioned if there was an opportunity to attempt to hold a trailing position behind a runner having regard to the early and middle sectionals of the race being run inside of standard time, rider stated that, in his view, that would be contrary to the instructions he had been issued. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued and expressed satisfaction with the manner in which rider had ridden the horse. After considering his explanation, the Stewards advised rider that having regard to the quick early and middle stages of the race he would have better suited by attempting to obtain a position with cover, however, they found the tactics he adopted were not unreasonable in the circumstances - Race 342.
