Leaving the 400M was hampered when taken wider. Rider stated that the intention from a wide barrier was to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages. He said when his mount jumped well and the early stages of the event were run outside of standard time this resulted in his mount holding an on-pace position three wide with cover.
