Rider stated that the instructions were to ride the horse where comfortable. He said with his mount dropping back in distance to 1000M, when a number of runners showed superior pace he allowed the horse to settle in a midfield position. Trainer confirmed the instructions issued and stated that with the horse dropping back in distance he asked rider not to make use of it in the early stages as it had raced in a disappointing manner at its previous race starts when being ridden forward - Race 388.

10 K235  EVER LUCK  11/01/2026   336  EVER LUCK (K235) bumped near the 1100M. Near the 950M was steadied when racing tight. When questioned rider stated that his instructions were to lead the event but when his mount jumped only fairly he was obliged to make some use of it in the early stages to hold an on-pace position. He said when a runner was positioned to his outside he elected to allow that runner to cross rather than continuing to make use of his mount to hold a more forward position. He said after being crossed by that runner, his mount raced keenly for some distance near the 900M but on entering the Home Straight he felt the horse was in a position to win the event. He added that when placed under pressure in the Home Straight his mount responded reasonably well to his riding, however, was unable to pass the winner which he thought was due to the horse still being immature and carrying the top weight of 135 lbs - Race 336.
