Racing Incident Report

Just as the gates opened, ELITE threw its head up, then bounded in the air, as a consequence the horse lost a lot of ground. KING COBRA jumped very awkwardly with its head up, then just after the start was awkwardly placed on the heels of CHUK WAY. About the 500 Metres, FORTUNE RIVER was crowded for room between SPECTACULAR TALK and SO GREAT which shifted out. Approaching the 200 Metres, ONLY THE BRAVE was momentarily crowded for room between CAVALO and SO GREAT. Close to the winning post, GRENADIER was tightened for room when crowded between CAVALO and STAR OF TAI PO which shifted out. As a consequence of this, the horse was not ridden out right to the line. S King (SPECTACULAR TALK) said he had been asked to ride the horse somewhere in about the first three positions if possible. He said on jumping SPECTACULAR TALK stumbled slightly and he was momentarily unbalanced in the saddle. He said he then endeavoured to go forward as instructed, but the horse did not show the pace as expected, he was obliged to travel wide throughout and over the concluding stages the horse weakened out of the race. He said in his opinion SPECTACULAR TALK felt "flat" and he expressed this opinion to the Trainer subsequent to the race. CHUK WAY and SPECTACULAR TALK were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, it was reported that SPECTACULAR TALK had lost its near side front plate.
