Racing Incident Report

Before Race 1, B Marcus, the declared rider for ABSOLUTE, approached the Stewards and expressed concern about riding the horse. He acknowledged he had formally accepted the ride and had also ridden the horse on one occasion on the track in a gallop. He stated however he made enquiries and was reluctant to take the ride. Subsequent to Race 2, B Marcus confirmed after having discussed the matter with Trainer J Moore it had been agreed he be relieved of the engagement. Trainer J Moore then approached the other riders who were on course and available to take the mount, however, they all declined the ride. ABSOLUTE was subsequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Mr Moore was told before ABSOLUTE can race again, it will be required to again perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. B Marcus was fined $6,000 for failing to fulfil an engagement. TRUSTY STEED missed the start, was then inconvenienced slightly by FUN MANAGER which on leaving the gates shifted out. On jumping, GOOD SPIRIT threw its head about. After the 600 Metres, JUST WIN became unbalanced, shifted out away from CAPITAL STAR, this inconvenienced BOLD'N POWER and obliged that horse to race wider. Rounding the Home Turn, FIELD'S WINNER hung out. After the 200 Metres, PROFESSIONALKILLER, which was finding the line nicely, was steadied and shifted in to find running. JUST WIN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
