Racing Incident Report

MIDAS SECRET, which was not standing well, missed the start badly. LION ROCK was slowly away and was further inconvenienced when bumped by WINMARK which on jumping shifted out, then in the early stages was obliged to race wide. A Marcus (SIR TIMAH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(i)]. The careless riding being that near the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of SECOND OPINION. As a consequence of this SECOND OPINION lost its running, struck the heels of SIR TIMAH and almost fell. CLEVER CITATION and CHUK WAY which were following were checked rather severely as a consequence. Inconvenience was also caused to SUPERIOR TITLE and WINMARK. After considering all the circumstances of this case, the Stewards decided the appropriate penalty was that A Marcus be suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 20 September 2001 on which day he may resume race riding (5 Hong Kong race days). Having listened to submissions put by A Marcus, the Stewards acceded to his request this suspension take effect at the conclusion of today's race meeting. CHUK WAY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
