Racing Incident Report
SWEETIE came from the gates very awkwardly, shifted in and was then awkward on the heels of REAL WINNER. On jumping, NICE AND EASY and CHATER JADE bumped. Also on jumping, ETERNAL FUN shifted in abruptly and made contact with the forequarters of TRAVELLER STAR. As a consequence of this, TRAVELLER STAR was checked and got well back. However, because of the circumstances, no action was taken. In the early stages, the saddle on DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL shifted back. In the Straight, REAL WINNER had a tendency to hang out. O Doleuze (DEVON ELITE) said today it was the first time he had ever ridden the horse and was pointed out to him by the trainer before the race that at its last run DEVON ELITE was slowly away, today he was to do all he could to ensure it jumped, particularly from a good draw. He said DEVON ELITE jumped well, took up a position in front as expected and although GRAND FIGHTER raced to his outside throughout, he thought it did travel comfortably, however, shortly after straightening when put under pressure DEVON ELITE started to give ground and in the run to the post was in his opinion very disappointing. It was noted that DEVON ELITE has not raced for 6 weeks and has gone up in body weight by 13 lbs. DEVON ELITE was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
