Racing Incident Report
On leaving the gates, CRYSTAL STEEL was steadied to take up a position towards the rear and close to the rail. When being steadied, CRYSTAL STEEL was inclined to throw its head about. Then whilst racing at the rear in the early stages, CRYSTAL STEEL pulled hard and proved somewhat difficult to settle. About the 800 Metres, STRATEGIC MOVE was steadied when momentarily crowded between MEDIC HERO and RECOGNITION which momentarily shifted when close to the heels of ELITE WIN. Near the 400 Metres, MEDIC HERO was momentarily unbalanced when close to the hindquarters of ELITE WIN. D Whyte (ELITE WIN) said the horse was standing well without any assistance, however, just as the gates opened, ELITE WIN unexpectedly reared and as a consequence lost ground. ELITE WIN was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
