Racing Incident Report
NORTHERN GOLD BALL, which was very fractious when presented at the pre-race weighing scale, could not be weighed. HELENE VITALITY began awkwardly. SUPREME RABBIT was slow to begin. SUNSEEN was slow to begin, then threw its head about when crowded for room between NORTHERN GOLD BALL and WEALTHY TREASURE, both of which shifted ground. After this, SUNSEEN was awkwardly placed close to the heels KIDDY SING. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, SUPREME RABBIT, which was proving difficult to settle, was checked when crowded for room inside EQUATOR KID which was proving very difficult to settle and shifted in after improving close to the heels of INSOCIABLE which steadied in front. No action was taken. Shortly after this, EQUATOR KID was steadied when HELENE VITALITY shifted out away from the heels of MAGIC HANDS which was steadied away from the heels of DARWIN. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, KIDDY SING became unbalanced when close to the heels of EQUATOR KID. After the 1000 Metres, SUNSEEN was awkwardly placed close to the heels of INSOCIABLE. For the major part of the race, NORTHERN GOLD BALL raced wide and without cover. A Delpech (NORTHERN GOLD BALL) explained in the early stages he was shifting across gradually to race in what he believed to be a three wide position, however, near the 1600 Metres SURVEYOR which had been racing behind him improved on his inside. He said when he became aware that runner had made ground on his inside, he felt he was obliged to shift back out, this then allowed SURVEYOR to improve through on his inside. SURVEYOR, COME SEE YOU and DARWIN were sent for sampling. After the race, EQUATOR KID was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a laceration to its left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, EQUATOR KID will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
