Racing Incident Report

FLUVIUS CAMILLUS was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between JUSTINIAN and PRO JOY, both of which shifted ground. On jumping, LUCKY SUPERSTAR and ORIENTAL bumped. Shortly after the start, COURAGEOUSHEART shifted out and bumped PRO JOY. After this, COURAGEOUSHEART was reluctant to stretch out and became detached from the field. Near the 1300 Metres, ORIENTAL and FLUVIUS CAMILLUS were steadied when crowded for room inside MAJIN BUU which shifted in when close to the heels of MR PRESIDENT. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, EXULTATION was crowded for room inside FLUVIUS CAMILLUS which was carried in slightly by WINNING EMPEROR. Also making the turn at the 600 Metres, LUCKY SUPERSTAR was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of MR BEAUTIFUL. Just prior to straightening, ORIENTAL became badly unbalanced after bumping the hindquarters of PRO JOY when attempting to improve into a narrow run on the inside of that horse which was laying in. Approaching the 200 Metres, PRO JOY was bumped by ORIENTAL which had been held up for clear running behind MR PRESIDENT and at this time was shifted to the outside of that horse into clear running. Over the final 200 Metres, MR PRESIDENT hung in and raced tight with JUSTINIAN. Just prior to the winning post, Apprentice H W Lai (EXULTATION) dropped his whip. In the Straight, MR BEAUTIFUL and EXULTATION hung in. A Starke (LUCKY SUPERSTAR) explained on straightening he steadied and shifted to the outside of WINNING EMPEROR into clear running. He said as LUCKY SUPERSTAR commenced to close the race off strongly, MR BEAUTIFUL which was racing to his outside commenced to shift in and as he was still a long way off the leaders and in clear running at this time he elected to continue going forward and allow his mount to shift in in anticipation of obtaining a clear run between MAJIN BUU and EXULTATION. He said as he got towards that run when closing the race off strongly, MAJIN BUU shifted in slightly and EXULTATION shifted out, he therefore allowed LUCKY SUPERSTAR to continue shifting to the inside of EXULTATION. He said shortly after this LUCKY SUPERSTAR was awkwardly placed outside the heels of MR PRESIDENT and therefore was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. A Starke was told he should do his utmost to ensure he provides his mounts with clear running if possible. COURAGEOUSHEART was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of COURAGEOUSHEART after the race did not show any significant findings. ORIENTAL and JUSTINIAN were sent for sampling.
