Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, SOLAR, which was standing with its head up and turned to the left, was slow to begin and lost a considerable amount of ground. FAIR WIN was a little slow to begin and then bumped with LIFELINE RAPIDE which was also slow to begin. SAMBUOYANT was slow to begin. From a wide barrier, SILVER SUN, which began awkwardly, was immediately steadied and shifted back across behind runners. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SILVER SUN was steadied when close to the heels of LUCKY CORDELIA. Near the 700 Metres, DREAMS COME TRUE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DASHING WINNER. For the major part of the race, DASHING WINNER hung out. Throughout the race, HIP HIP HOORAY raced wide and without cover. S Dye (SOLAR), the rider of second placegetter, was reminded of his responsibilities to ride his mounts out at least hands and heels right to the winning post where possible. After the race, O Chavez (SHARE THE FUN) reported his horse was not striding out freely. SHARE THE FUN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, SHARE THE FUN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, SHARE THE FUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LIFELINE RAPIDE, HIP HIP HOORAY and SOLAR were sent for sampling. The Veterinary Officer reported following the race LIFELINE RAPIDE was making an abnormal breathing noise. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer". Also after the race, it was noted WINNING CAT had sustained a laceration to the right front leg.
