Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, DANDY BUNNY was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse was mildly lame in its right front leg and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DANDY BUNNY. Before being allowed to race again, DANDY BUNNY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After being boxed, HEALTHY HEART became fractious and broke through riderless. HEALTHY HEART was recaptured by an attendant as it left the stalls and was then examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, HEALTHY HEART will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. KID GALAXY began awkwardly. As the gates opened, NOBLE ZOOM lifted its front feet off the ground, bounded in the air, lost ground and as a consequence got well back. Near the 1300 Metres, HEALTHY HEART got its head up. At the 1200 Metres, KIWI DASH became unbalanced and shifted in abruptly after being brushed by HEALTHY HEART which raced awkwardly and shifted in abruptly after initially being carried in by JOY AND TREASURE (C Brown). Whilst the Stewards accepted HEALTHY HEART had contributed significantly to this incident, C Brown was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. For some distance after this, KIWI DASH was awkwardly placed inside the heels of NOBLE ZOOM. Also after this, HEALTHY HEART continued to race ungenerously for a considerable distance. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, JOY AND TREASURE was steadied after improving into an awkward position tight outside NOBLE ZOOM and inside the heels of KID GALAXY. In the middle stages, MIGHTY POWER hung out and shifted wider on the track making the Home Turn. Over the concluding stages, KIWI DASH, which had been racing ungenerously with its head up, hung in. KID GALAXY and BAYVIEW LAD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, KID GALAXY, which tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. The performance of KID GALAXY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, KID GALAXY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of BAYVIEW LAD after the race did not show any significant findings. SUPER MARKSMAN and SUPER were sent for sampling.
