Racing Incident Report

Just prior to the gates opening, MAGIC TOUCH lunged forward and hit the front gates of its stall, causing them to open slightly ahead of the other gates. After this, MAGIC TOUCH sat back and consequently was slow to begin. WINNING POWER and ROYAL DECREE were slow to begin. SMART HORSE was slow to muster speed in the early stages. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, BACCHUS hung out badly and shifted significantly wider on the track. The performance of BACCHUS was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, BACCHUS will have to perform satisfactorily in a series of successive official barrier trials around a bend. Also making the turn at the 700 Metres, DASHING WINNER got its head up, commenced to hang and shifted out. Over the final 700 Meters, DASHING WINNER hung out. ROYAL DECREE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ROYAL DECREE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was making an abnormal breathing noise and an endoscopic examination showed it to have a possible soft palate problem. GAUCHO, SIAMERIC TE SPECSO and DASHING WINNER were sent for sampling. Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported CALIFORNIA HEART had returned in a distressed condition. Before being allowed to race again, CALIFORNIA HEART will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
