Racing Incident Report
NOBLE CHAMPION, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 16.12.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left fore). Before being allowed to race again, NOBLE CHAMPION will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. On jumping, SPARKLING STAR was crowded for room between HANDBAG PREMIER which shifted out and WINNING REWARD which shifted in after knuckling. On jumping, OCEAN TRANQUIL and GOLD STRIKER bumped. AMSTERDAM was slow to begin. After being crossed by MASTER YING in the lead shortly after the start, GOOD PARTNER proved difficult to settle. Near the 1200 Metres, HAPPY KID was bumped by GOLD STRIKER which shifted in. After this, GOLD STRIKER travelled wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. In the early stages, CHATER SILK proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up. After the 600 Metres, SPARKLING STAR was checked when disappointed for running between ROMANTIC WINNER and STRAIGHT VICTORY. Prior to straightening, ROMANTIC WINNER was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of HAPPY KID and outside GOOD PARTNER which shifted out slightly. No action was taken. At the 400 Metres, STRAIGHT VICTORY was bumped on two occasions by ROMANTIC WINNER which at this time shifted to the outside of GOLD STRIKER into clear running. Also at the 400 Metres, GOOD PARTNER was disappointed for running between MASTER YING and WINNING REWARD. For some distance after this, GOOD PARTNER had difficulty obtaining clear running. HAPPY KID was steadied when disappointed for running at the 350 Metres between ALWAYS ZIETEN and GOOD PARTNER which shifted out. When being ridden out after the 300 Metres, ROMANTIC WINNER hung in, near the 200 Metres shifted ground when barely clear of GOLD STRIKER, resulting in that horse being steadied. Near the 100 Metres, HANDBAG PREMIER, which was closing the race off, was steadied and shifted out when unable to continue improving behind GOOD PARTNER. O Doleuze (OCEAN TRANQUIL), which was having its first start over 1400 Metres today, explained he had been instructed from a wide barrier to ride the horse in a rearward position to assist it in finishing the race off. He said OCEAN TRANQUIL travelled comfortably, however, did not quicken as he had anticipated in the Straight and overall was disappointing. STRAIGHT VICTORY was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, it was reported STRAIGHT VICTORY had lost its right hind plate. ROMANTIC WINNER and WINNING REWARD were sent for sampling.
